Town or village? It depends on your address.
Most of Babylon is permitted by the Town, with three incorporated villages that run their own building departments. We confirm the right office for your address and handle the paperwork either way. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.

Unincorporated hamlets go through the Town of Babylon's building department. We prepare and file everything and give you the timeline up front.
Amityville, Babylon & Lindenhurst
All three are incorporated villages with their own building departments. Each village sets its own process and timeline, and we confirm it for your address up front.

North Amityville, North Babylon, West Babylon and North Lindenhurst are Town hamlets, not part of the villages they're named after. We check before we file.
Every project, in any town, also needs PSEG Long Island interconnection approval before installation, then a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) from PSEG Long Island before the system turns on. We handle all of the paperwork and coordination with PSEG Long Island. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

Salt air, bay winds and flood zones shape how we design near the water. We choose racking and equipment rated for coastal wind, and place inverters and batteries with flood elevation in mind, including on raised homes.

Many homes here were built in the 1950s and '60s and are on their second or third roof. We check your roof first, and if it needs replacing, we do the roof and solar together so you never pay to remove and reinstall panels later.

PSEG Long Island offers heat pump rebates, and you can keep your oil or gas system as backup and still qualify. Is North Babylon part of the Village of Babylon?
No. North Babylon, West Babylon, North Amityville and North Lindenhurst are Town of Babylon hamlets. Only Amityville, Babylon and Lindenhurst are incorporated villages with their own building departments.
Can I put solar on a canal-front or raised home?
Usually, yes. We design for coastal wind and salt air, and we place inverters, batteries and electrical equipment with your flood elevation in mind.
Should I replace my roof before getting solar?
If your roof has less than about 10 years of life left, it usually makes sense to replace it first. We do the roof and solar together, each typically in one day.
