Town or village? It depends on your address.
Most South Shore addresses go through the Town of Brookhaven, with two incorporated villages that handle their own permits. We confirm the right office and handle the paperwork either way. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.
Town of Brookhaven
Most addresses go through the Town of Brookhaven Building Division. Town permits typically take 4–6 weeks.
Patchogue & Bellport
The Villages of Patchogue and Bellport issue their own permits, with timelines about the same as the Town's. East Patchogue and North Bellport are unincorporated hamlets permitted by the Town. We check which applies to your address.
Mastic Beach & Eastport
Mastic Beach dissolved as a village in 2017, so it's now permitted through the Town. Eastport straddles the Brookhaven–Southampton line, so we confirm your office before we file.
Every project, in any town, also needs PSEG Long Island interconnection approval before installation, then a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) from PSEG Long Island before the system turns on. We handle all of the paperwork and coordination with PSEG Long Island. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

Bayfront villages, waterfront hamlets and barrier-island homes, each with its own mix of houses, conditions and permits.
Patchogue
An incorporated village with its own permit process. Older homes near downtown and the bay sit alongside mid-century neighborhoods, and many roofs are due for replacement.
East Patchogue
Waterfront and near-water homes south of Montauk Highway, plus mid-century neighborhoods to the north. Permitted through the Town.
Blue Point
Older homes and capes near Great South Bay, many with mature trees. We model shade on each roof before we design.
Bellport
An incorporated village with historic homes and its own permit process. We design layouts that respect the character of the village.
Mastic Beach
Many former summer cottages converted into year-round homes, some raised after Sandy. Since the village dissolved in 2017, permits go through the Town.
Shirley
Capes and ranches with simple rooflines that suit solar, plus waterfront homes near the bay. A strong area for cutting a high electric bill.
Moriches
Waterfront and wooded homes along the bay. We design for coastal wind and salt air.
Center Moriches
Older homes near Main Street and newer houses closer to the water, many with good sun exposure.
East Moriches
Larger lots and waterfront properties where bigger systems or battery backup often make sense.
Eastport
A small community straddling the Brookhaven–Southampton line. We confirm which Town permits your address.
Fire Island
Brookhaven's barrier-island communities, reachable only by ferry or boat. Coastal conditions and logistics require careful planning; contact us to talk through your home.

Many South Shore homes still heat with oil or propane, and fuel prices have climbed sharply. A heat pump replaces most of that fuel burn with electricity, and solar makes that electricity yours. PSEG Long Island offers heat pump rebates, and you can keep your oil or gas system as backup and still qualify. We size the solar and the heat pump together, so your panels are built for the load you'll actually have.
