One city, one permit process.
Every borough is permitted by the NYC Department of Buildings, with Con Edison interconnection. We handle the filings, inspections and utility approvals. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.

NYC property tax abatement
Systems placed in service through 2035 can qualify for NYC's solar property tax abatement, worth up to 30% of eligible solar and battery costs, taken over four years. We'll show you how it applies to your home.
Every NYC project needs a permit from the NYC Department of Buildings, Con Edison interconnection approval before installation, and a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) before the system turns on. We handle all of the paperwork and coordination with the DOB and Con Edison. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

Brownstones, rowhouses and attached homes have flat or low-slope roofs and shared walls. We design for those roofs and for access rules that differ from a typical detached house, and if the roof needs replacing, we do the roof and solar together.

Salt air, bay winds and flood zones shape how we design near the water. We choose racking and equipment rated for coastal wind, and place inverters and batteries with flood elevation in mind.
Solar and heat pumps
Many New York City homes still heat with oil or gas, and costs keep climbing. A heat pump replaces most of that fuel burn with electricity, and solar makes that electricity yours. Con Edison offers heat pump rebates through the NYS Clean Heat program, and we help you apply. We size the solar and the heat pump together, so your panels are built for the load you'll actually have.

New York's solar tax credit (25%, up to $5,000) can apply, and residential solar is exempt from New York sales tax. Often, yes. Brownstones and rowhouses usually have flat roofs, which can work well for solar once fire code access pathways are accounted for. We'll look at your roof during the energy review.
Should I replace my roof before getting solar?
If your roof has less than about 10 years of life left, it usually makes sense to replace it first. We do the roof and solar together, each typically in one day, so you never pay to remove and reinstall panels later.
