This corner of Nassau has more incorporated villages per square mile than almost anywhere on Long Island. We confirm which office covers your address and handle the paperwork either way. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.
Town of Hempstead
Unincorporated hamlets go through the Town of Hempstead Building Department, and Town permits move quickly, typically 2–4 weeks.
The Villages
Lawrence, Cedarhurst, Woodsburgh, Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor, Hewlett Neck, Valley Stream and Malverne each have their own building department. Each village sets its own process and timeline, and we confirm it for your address up front.
Hamlet or village?
Woodmere, Hewlett, Inwood and North Woodmere are Town of Hempstead hamlets, even though they sit between villages. We check before we file.
Every project, in any town, also needs PSEG Long Island interconnection approval before installation, then a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) from PSEG Long Island before the system turns on. We handle all of the paperwork and coordination with PSEG Long Island. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

Is Woodmere or Hewlett a village?
No. Woodmere, Hewlett, North Woodmere and Inwood are unincorporated hamlets permitted by the Town of Hempstead. Lawrence, Cedarhurst, Woodsburgh and the three Hewlett villages (Hewlett Bay Park, Hewlett Harbor and Hewlett Neck) are incorporated villages with their own building departments.

Often, yes. We use satellite design tools to model shade on your exact roof and calculate, tree by tree, how much each one reduces your system's output. That lets you decide whether any tree work is worth it.
Should I replace my roof before getting solar?
If your roof has less than about 10 years of life left, it usually makes sense to replace it first. We do the roof and solar together, each typically in one day.
