The North Shore of Oyster Bay is a patchwork of Town hamlets, incorporated villages and the City of Glen Cove. We confirm the right office for your address and handle the paperwork either way. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.
Town of Oyster Bay
Unincorporated hamlets go through the Town of Oyster Bay Building Department, and Town permits move quickly, typically 2–4 weeks.
The Villages
Bayville, Sea Cliff, Mill Neck, the Brookvilles, Muttontown, Laurel Hollow, Oyster Bay Cove and the other North Shore villages each have their own building department. Each village sets its own process and timeline, and we confirm it for your address up front.
City of Glen Cove
Glen Cove is a city, not part of the Town of Oyster Bay, with its own building department. We file there for Glen Cove addresses and give you the timeline up front.
Every project, in any town, also needs PSEG Long Island interconnection approval before installation, then a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) from PSEG Long Island before the system turns on. We handle all of the paperwork and coordination with PSEG Long Island. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

A city with its own building department, from older neighborhoods downtown to waterfront homes and estates on the Sound.

No. Glen Cove is its own city with its own building department, so solar permits there go to the City of Glen Cove.
Can I put solar on an estate property without it showing from the street?
Often, yes. On larger North Shore lots, a ground-mounted array can sit away from the house, face due south and avoid roof shade. On the house itself, we plan clean layouts with all-black panels where they suit the home.
