Our Home Base

Centrally based on Long Island's North Shore.

We're centrally based in Saint James on the North Shore of Long Island, and we bring the same neighbor-first approach to every home we work on across New York City. That's why homeowners trust us with the solar, roofing and heat pump decisions that matter most for their homes and businesses.

Your Neighbors, Not a Call Center

A local company that's still here.

Several of the big national solar companies have shut down in the last few years, leaving New York homeowners with no one to call. We've stayed lean, focused and accountable to our customers.

We design your system, handle the permits, and install with our long-time partner Greenleaf Solar. One team covers solar, roofing, battery storage and heat pumps, so there's no finger-pointing between contractors.

More about Power House →

About our numbers: Project counts include solar projects our founder, Steve Maroney, designed, advised on, sold and supported as a solar consultant with another Long Island solar company from 2013 to 2024, plus Power House Home Energy projects since he founded the company in 2024. Many of those homeowners are still his customers and referral partners today.

Permits & Timeline

One city, one permit process.

Every borough is permitted by the NYC Department of Buildings, with Con Edison interconnection. We handle the filings, inspections and utility approvals. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.

NYC Department of Buildings

Every Queens project needs a DOB permit, typically 5–8 weeks. We prepare and file everything.

Con Edison or PSEG Long Island

Most of Queens is Con Edison territory, but the Rockaway Peninsula is served by PSEG Long Island. We handle interconnection with whichever serves your home.

NYC property tax abatement

Systems placed in service through 2035 can qualify for NYC's solar property tax abatement, worth up to 30% of eligible solar and battery costs, taken over four years. We'll show you how it applies to your home.

From permit to power-on, we handle it all.

Every NYC project needs a permit from the NYC Department of Buildings, utility interconnection approval before installation, and a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) before the system turns on. Most of Queens is served by Con Edison; the Rockaway Peninsula is served by PSEG Long Island. We handle all of the paperwork either way. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

Communities We Serve

Every Queens neighborhood we serve.

Grouped by area, from detached homes to rowhouses and brownstones.

Northeast Queens

Bayside, Douglaston, Little Neck, Whitestone, Beechhurst, College Point, Auburndale and Flushing. Detached homes and colonials, many with good roof space.

Eastern Queens

Fresh Meadows, Hollis, Holliswood, Jamaica Estates, Queens Village, Bellerose, Glen Oaks and Floral Park. Capes, Tudors and colonials on residential streets.

Southeast Queens

St. Albans, Cambria Heights, Laurelton, Rosedale, Springfield Gardens, South Ozone Park and Jamaica. Detached and semi-detached homes with straightforward roofs.

Central Queens

Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens, Middle Village, Glendale, Maspeth, Ridgewood, Woodhaven and Richmond Hill. Attached and detached homes, from Tudors to rowhouses.

Western Queens

Astoria, Long Island City, Sunnyside, Woodside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst and Corona. Rowhouses and multi-family homes with flat or low-slope roofs.

Howard Beach, Ozone Park & Broad Channel

Waterfront and near-water homes by Jamaica Bay, where coastal design matters.

The Rockaways

Far Rockaway, Arverne, Rockaway Park, Belle Harbor, Neponsit and Breezy Point. Served by PSEG Long Island rather than Con Edison, with ocean and bay exposure.

FDNY roof rules, handled.

New York City's fire code requires clear access pathways and setbacks on rooftop solar. We design layouts that meet those rules while fitting as many panels as your roof allows.

Designed for coastal conditions.

Salt air, bay winds and flood zones shape how we design near the water. We choose racking and equipment rated for coastal wind, and place inverters and batteries with flood elevation in mind.

Solar and heat pumps

Many New York City homes still heat with oil or gas, and costs keep climbing. A heat pump replaces most of that fuel burn with electricity, and solar makes that electricity yours. Con Edison (or PSEG Long Island in the Rockaways) offers heat pump rebates through the NYS Clean Heat program, and we help you apply. We size the solar and the heat pump together, so your panels are built for the load you'll actually have.

Paying for it

Cash, loan, lease, or our Participate Energy program, an incentive that lowers your investment by 25–35%. New York's solar tax credit (25%, up to $5,000) can apply, and residential solar is exempt from New York sales tax. In New York City, the solar property tax abatement can cover up to 30% of eligible solar and battery costs over four years, for systems placed in service through 2035. We'll walk you through every option side by side.

Queens Solar Questions

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to go solar in Queens?

NYC Department of Buildings permits typically take 5–8 weeks, and every project also needs Con Edison interconnection approval and a final sign-off before the system turns on. We handle all of it. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

Is there a solar property tax abatement in New York City?

Yes. NYC's solar property tax abatement can cover up to 30% of eligible solar and battery costs, taken as 7.5% a year over four years, for systems placed in service through 2035, subject to annual caps. New York's 25% solar tax credit (up to $5,000) can apply as well.

Who is the utility in the Rockaways?

The Rockaway Peninsula is served by PSEG Long Island, while the rest of Queens is served by Con Edison. We handle interconnection with whichever utility serves your home.

Should I replace my roof before getting solar?

If your roof has less than about 10 years of life left, it usually makes sense to replace it first. We do the roof and solar together, each typically in one day, so you never pay to remove and reinstall panels later.

Do fire code rules limit how many panels I can fit?

They affect layout. NYC's fire code requires clear access pathways and setbacks on rooftop solar. We design around those rules to fit as many panels as your roof allows.
