One Town permit office for the whole town.
The Town of Riverhead has no incorporated villages, so every address goes through the Town. A few communities on its edges cross Town lines, and we confirm the right office for your address. Homes in a designated historic district also go through that district's review, which we coordinate with the permit office for approval.

Unlike most East End towns, Riverhead has no incorporated villages, so there's one set of rules and one permit office for every hamlet.
Communities that cross Town lines
Wading River and Manorville are split with the Town of Brookhaven, and Laurel is split with the Town of Southold. Riverside and Flanders, across the river, are in the Town of Southampton. We confirm your office before we file.
Every project, in any town, also needs PSEG Long Island interconnection approval before installation, then a final inspection and Permission to Operate (PTO) from PSEG Long Island before the system turns on. We handle all of the paperwork and coordination with PSEG Long Island. Install day itself is fast: most solar installs take one day, larger systems one to two days, and systems with battery backup two to three days. A roof replacement or a heat pump install each typically takes one day.

A small hamlet split between the Towns of Riverhead and Southold. We confirm which Town permits your address.
Manorville
Larger Pine Barrens lots where bigger systems or ground mounts are common. Manorville is split with the Town of Brookhaven.

No. Riverside and Flanders sit across the Peconic River in the Town of Southampton, so they're permitted by Southampton. We confirm the right office for your address before we file.
Can I put solar on the ground instead of my roof?
Often, yes, especially on Riverhead's larger lots. A ground mount can face due south, avoid roof shade and make service easy. We'll look at your property during the energy review.
Should I replace my roof before getting solar?
